(a) Prior to issuing a summons for violation of regulations prohibiting rodent pests, the Town shall provide the property owner with written notice that removal or extermination of the rodent pests is to be accomplished and performed within the period of time specified in such notice, which period shall not be less than thirty (30) days after service of such notice.

(b) The notice described in Subsection (a) above may be personally served upon the property owner or posted in a conspicuous manner upon the front door of a building or residence, if any, on such property, or by mailing a copy of such notice to the last known address of the owner, or by publication twice, one (1) week apart, in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town. Service under this Section shall be deemed complete as follows:

(1) For posting; three (3) days after the notice is posted;

(2) For mailing; three (3) days after the notice is postmarked; or

(3) For publishing; on the last day of publication.

(c) If a violation persists beyond the period of time specified in such notice, the Town may issue a summons. (Ord. 1070 §4, 2012)
